Oak Creek BMX Gears up to Host More Than2,500 Riders and Spectators for Major Event

BMX racers from throughout California will be arriving at Oak Creek BMX next Friday in hopes of racing their way to glory in the BMX NorCal State Finals on August 26-28. Placer Valley Tourism is thrilled to be teaming up with Oak Creek BMX again to bring this exhilarating competition to Placer Valley that will boast more than 2,500 racers and spectators for this three-day event.

The weekend will start with a single point race on Friday evening, August 26 and then on Saturday they will rev it up with a double points state finals pre-race. On Sunday morning by 9 a.m. the championship triple points races will begin and riders will compete throughout the day vying to be crowned the champion for their division.

There are several local racers to watch that are expected to do outstanding including Kent Elliot and his twin boys, Jackson and Nickolas, from Granite Bay and Rocklin's own Claire O'Connor, all in the expert divisions for their age group.

Cody Wilson from USA BMX will be present each day of the event and will do the honors of crowning the champions on Sunday at the awards ceremony. Oak Creek BMX owner, Linda Minton explained that having someone of Wilson's expertise and caliber on-hand inspires the racers. "We love having him here and appreciate all he does for us," added Minton.

"If you are wondering what BMX is all about, tune into the Olympics on this Wednesday, Thursday and Friday and see what these incredible athletes can do," exclaimed Minton.  She added this is only the third Olympics for this continually growing sport, as BMX debuted in the Beijing 2008 Olympics.

Come check out the action live next weekend at Oak Creek BMX located at 648 Riverside Ave in Roseville.
