USA Water Ski and the American Water Ski Association are pleased to announce the 15th annual Junior U.S. Open Water Ski Championships will be held June 13-14, 2015, at Bullneck Lake in Scott, Ark. It will be the second consecutive year that the event will be hosted by the Bullneck Lake Ski Club, which is located just outside of Little Rock.
The two-round, world-record capability event will feature Men and Women (ages 17 to 21) and Boys and Girls divisions (ages 16 and under). Some of the world's top junior water ski athletes are expected to compete for titles in slalom, tricks, jumping and overall.
“Bullneck Lake is proud to bring world-class water skiing back to central Arkansas, and we are excited to share Little Rock's historic downtown river market with athletes and fans from around the world,” said Scott Greenwood, president of the Bullneck Lake Ski Club. “Bullneck Lake is already building on the energy and excitement from this past year as we continue to elevate the prestige of the Junior U.S. Open and highlight the talent of our amazing junior skiers.”
In addition to selecting Scott, Ark., as the host of the 2015 Junior U.S. Open, the American Water Ski Association also announced that the 2016 Junior U.S. Open will be held at Pangaea Puddle in Canajoharie, N.Y., and the 2017 Junior U.S. Open will be held at Ski Chaste in Axis, Ala. The Junior U.S. Open has previously been held in Ohio, Illinois, Kansas, Texas, Florida and Louisiana.
“We were very fortunate to receive these bids as the sites are all well qualified to host the tournament,” said Bob Mayhew, president of the American Water Ski Association. “Through negotiations with the sites, the sequence was selected. This arrangement should enable the sites to have good lead time in arranging for sponsors and making capital improvements. It also ensures that we have host sites for the next three years.”
