The National Wheelchair Basketball Association (NWBA), in partnership with Visit Mesa, has announced that the 2027 NWBA Adult and Junior Division Wheelchair Basketball National Championships will be held at Arizona Athletic Grounds (AAG) in Mesa, Arizona. The joint championships are scheduled for April 8–11, 2027, marking the beginning of a multi-year partnership with Visit Mesa. Additional championship dates will be announced at a later time.
The four-day event will bring together the top teams from across the country, with 96 teams and more than 1,300 athletes competing for national titles across multiple divisions.
The top 16 teams in each Adult Division (I, II, and III) will earn invitations to compete for their respective national championships.
In the Junior Division, the top 32 ranked Varsity teams will qualify for postseason play. The top 16 teams will compete in the Varsity National Championship, while the remaining 16 teams will participate in the Varsity Invitational Championship. The top 16 Prep Division teams will also compete for a national title.
Holding the Adult and Junior Division championships together once again brings the entire NWBA community together for one weekend of competition and connection.
For many junior athletes, it’s an opportunity to watch the sport’s top players compete on the national stage. For adult divisions, it’s a chance to celebrate the next generation of talent rising through the NWBA.
“We’re excited to partner with Visit Mesa and Arizona Athletic Grounds to bring our National Championships to Mesa in 2027,” said NWBA CEO Brandon McBeain. “Bringing our Adult and Junior Division championships together again is something we’re especially excited about, as it creates a unique opportunity for our entire community to be in one place. As we continue to grow, we’re always looking for ways to enhance the championship experience for our athletes, teams, and fans, and we believe this partnership will help us deliver a truly first-class event.”
Visit Mesa will serve as the host destination partner, welcoming athletes, coaches, families, and fans from across the country.
