Tuscaloosa Tourism & Sports Commission Boasts Strong Numbers

Tuscaloosa Tourism & Sports Commission (TTSC) recently made the following announcement about its success in 2013 over that of 2012:

We have had a strong start to the new year. Our team continues to recruit events to Tuscaloosa that drive hotel nights, and we have been extremely pleased with the results.

December occupancy rate increased from 43.8 to 50.4 from the previous year. The year to date occupancy is continuing to rise with 2012 coming in at 59.3 versus 60.8 for 2013.

We could not do this without your support as we continue to position Tuscaloosa as a premiere destination. Looking forward to 2014, we have outlined some ambitious goals to strengthen the economic impact on our community. Our team is excited about the challenges the new year brings.

Among TTSC’s new business acquisitions are the following:

  • AMTESOL (Alabama- Mississippi Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages) Conference for January 2015 (250+ attendees)
  • Fire Chiefs Executive Development Conference (100+ attendees)
  • AL Association of Family & Consumer Sciences (130+ attendees)
  • AADMO (Alabama Association of Destination Management Organizations) CEO retreat will be held in April 2014
