Andrews Sports Medicine And St. Vincent’s Health System Announced As Presenting Sponsors of Event

Knight Eady Sports Group in partnership with the Birmingham Tip Off Club has announced that Andrews Sports Medicine and St. Vincent’s Health System will be presenting sponsors for the 2014 Steel City Invitational. The second annual event will be held December 19-22 at Samford University, and 2014 will mark the first time the tournament partners with presenting sponsors.

The sponsorships of Andrews Sports Medicine and St. Vincent’s Health System continue to raise the magnitude of the Steel City Invitational by bringing added value to an already high-caliber high school sporting event.

“Andrews Sports Medicine and Orthopedic Center is excited to be a part of the second annual Steel City Invitational,” said Lisa G. Warren, Chief Executive Officer of Andrews Sports Medicine and Orthopedic Center. “We are passionate about Alabama high school athletics and this is a great opportunity to support our student-athletes through a premier event.”

Andrews Sports Medicine and Orthopedic Center is the leading facility in the comprehensive treatment of orthopedic injuries. Andrews Sports Medicine's team of expert physicians and surgeons provide exceptional care for all patients with orthopedic injuries and conditions. As longtime supporters of high school athletics, Andrews Sports Medicine physicians are often seen on the sidelines of AHSAA events. The physicians work to keep Alabama high school athletes healthy through prevention and education, while working diligently to treat injured athletes and return them to full strength.

St. Vincent’s Health System is comprised of St. Vincent’s Birmingham, St. Vincent’s Blount, St. Vincent’s East, St. Vincent’s St. Clair, St. Vincent's One Nineteen Health and Wellness and the St. Vincent’s Ambulatory Healthcare Network. Together, St. Vincent’s Health System includes an extensive network of skilled physicians and associates, as well as the most advanced technologies available in order to provide high quality patient care across the state of Alabama.

“St. Vincent’s Health System and the St. Vincent’s Birmingham Sports Medicine program are honored to be a presenting sponsor for the second annual Steel City Invitational,” said Andy Davis, President and COO of St. Vincent’s Birmingham.
“Providing students with the care and support they need to perform well and be healthy is a major focus for our system. We are excited to be supporting our schools and students with this event.”

In addition to the presenting sponsors, Champion Sports Medicine will also be a sponsor of the event. Champion Sports Medicine’s physical therapists specialize in non-operative and post-operative care of a variety of orthopedic and sports-related injuries. Their multi-disciplinary staff works closely with all patients and athletes to return them to the highest possible activity level after an injury. Many of Champion’s athletic trainers work at Alabama high schools, and will work on-site at the Steel City Invitational.

“Champion Sports Medicine is proud to be a part of the second annual Steel City Invitational,” said Doug DeLoach, Alabama Area Vice President for Champion Sports Medicine. “Our athletic trainers work at many of the high schools across the state and look forward to providing services and keeping our athletes healthy at such a high-class high school basketball event.”

The Steel City Invitational is a three-day, four-round bracket-style tournament with a winners and losers bracket. All teams are guaranteed to play at least one game each of the three days (Friday, Saturday and Monday). The teams playing in the semi-finals on Saturday will play a total of four games during the tournament.
