The SCCA Summer SpeedFest is the 45th anniversary celebration of the Formula F class racing car showcasing drivers from the SCCA US Majors Tour, the highest level of amateur racing the SCCA has to offer. The Formula F class offers a very successful platform for drivers aspiring to reach the professional ranks. Drivers such as Danica Patrick (NASCAR), Scott Dixon (Verizon IndyCar Series Champion), Kimi Raikkonen (Formula 1 World Champion), and Josef Newgarden (Verizon IndyCar Series) started their careers in these cars. For this weekend's Summer SpeedFest at Barber, Josef Newgarden will be returning to his roots by racing a Formula F car on Sunday, August 10th. This is the sixth spectator racing event on the 2014 Barber Motorsports Park calendar.
In addition, Barber will be playing host to the Birmingham Cars and Coffee car meet on Saturday, August 9th. The Birmingham Cars and Coffee car meet will be located trackside in the fan zone offering a unique meeting spot for this growing car community.
