Decatur Releases Updates on Youth Cross Country Event

Due to the pandemic and in an attempt to ensure a safer race for participants and spectators, the Chickasaw Trails Invitational will take place over two days. Small school (1A-4A) races will be hosted on Friday, Sept. 11, 2020, and large school (5A-7A) races follow on Saturday, Sept. 12. Both races will be held at the championship course located on the grounds of the Oakville Indian Mounds Education Center.

According to Race Director Stanley Johnson, approximately 3,000 high school runners from Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee and Mississippi will take part in the two-day race. This is the 20th year for the meet, which fills hotels located in both Lawrence and Morgan counties.

Friday, Sept. 11 Small Schools Division race times:

4:00 p.m. Junior High Boys
4:15 p.m. Junior High Girls
4:45 p.m. 1A-2A Top 7 Boys
5:00 p.m. 3A-4A Top 7 Girls
5:30 p.m. 3A-4A Top 7 Boys
5:45 p.m. 1A-2A Top 7 Girls
6:10 p.m. 1A-4A Boys and JV
6:25 p.m. 1A-4A Girls and JV

Saturday, Sept. 12 Large Schools Division race times:

8:15 a.m. Race #1 Boys Division: Varsity Boy’s A or B Team, Limit 7 entries
8:30 a.m. Race #1 Girl’s Division: Varsity Girl’s A or B Team, Limit 7 entries
8:55 a.m. Race #2 Boy’s Division: Varsity Boy’s B or C Teams, Limit 7
9:15 a.m. Girl’s Championship Division, Open Division, Limit 7 Entries
9:40 a.m. Boy’s Championship Division, Open Division, Limit 7 Entries
9:55 a.m. Race #2 Girl’s Division: Girl’s B or C Teams, Limit 7 Entries

Race results will be posted online live at https://al.milesplit.com/https://www.milesplit.com/ and https://xpresstiming.com/. AHSAA does not allow pets or bicycles at the Oakville Indian Mounds on race days.

Parking is a $5 donation fee.
