The Historic Motor Sports Association (HMSA) in association with ZOOM Motorsports and the Barber Vintage Motorsports Museum is pleased to announce that the second annual Barber Historics will be returning to Barber Motorsports Park. The 2016 event will be held on May 20-22, in Birmingham, Ala.

“The Barber Motorsports Park is the premier motorsports facility in North America,” stated Cris Vandagriff, president of HMSA.  “It is our goal to welcome the finest historic race cars to participant with us during our celebration of the golden age of motorsports, where fans can see and touch some of the greatest cars to ever race in the world.”

The event will feature on-track racing action from museum quality racing cars including the IMSA GT series that thrilled fans between 1971 and 1993. Porsche 911RSR to 962, Datsun 240Z to Nissan GTP, Mazda RX7 to GTP, Corvette, Camaro, and more will all be racing on track, rekindling memories for fans and participants alike.

In addition to the on-track action, sports car clubs from in and around Birmingham will display their cars, along with the South’s emerging swap meet, wine tastings, official event merchandise and much more. The fan favorite and second annual KCBS sanctioned Barber-Que competition will also be returning, which will include grilling demonstrations, BBQ samplings, live judging, live entertainment and more.

“We are excited to bring back some of the finest cars in the world to what has been called the finest motorsports facility in North America – Barber Motorsports Park,” stated George Dennis, president of ZOOM Motorsports, the exclusive event promoter of Barber Motorsports Park. “Whether you are a car enthusiast or not, this is a social event that the whole family will enjoy.”

This event is patterned after the Barber Vintage Festival, now in its 12th year, held each fall for historic motorcycles. The world famous Barber Vintage Motorsports Museum will be open during the event and houses one of the largest Lotus racing car collections in the world.

“The Barber Museum is proud to have HMSA return to Barber Motorsports Park to provide world-class historic racing to fans of all ages,” stated Jeff Ray, executive director of the Barber Vintage Motorsports Museum.  “As we do during other large events, we will open the restoration level to museum guests.  This means that once they’ve enjoyed our vast collection of 50+ vintage Lotus and other specialty cars, guests will have the opportunity to check out even more cars on exhibit – some of which they may be seeing for the very first time.”

Tickets for the 2nd annual event start at only $20 and can be purchased at www.barbermotorsports.com.  All tickets include complimentary paddock garage access, and as always at Barber Motorsports Park, kids 12 and under are admitted free with a ticketed adult.  For a limited time, fans have the opportunity to purchase “The Motorsports Passport,” which includes one three-day general admission ticket, one parade lap around Barber Motorsports Park in their own vehicle, and one three-day pass to the Barber Vintage Motorsports Museum, all for only $100.
