Here we are, halfway through National Tennis Month, and the news is … bad. No fewer than 23 tennis programs across all three divisions of the NCAA have been canceled in recent weeks. The Intercollegiate Tennis Association is mounting an all-hands-on-deck effort to save programs from the axe and to keep tennis on campus as a championship varsity sport.

The original organizers of those Olympics could never have foreseen things like sponsorship or stay-to-play policies, nor could they have imagined the technology that would go into the design and construction of sports facilities in centuries to come.
