The National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) is pleased to invite you to attend the “Behavior in Sport Summit: Understanding Your Influence,” which will be held August 14-16 at the Conrad Hotel in downtown Indianapolis. We are excited about this upcoming event as we bring together as many groups as possible to offer solutions to behavior issues at high school sporting events.

We are specifically inviting members of the media that cover high school sports. In addition to coaches, administrators and state association staff, media members have a unique perspective of high school sports and how they are portrayed and would be a valuable voice at this summit.

The tentative schedule of events for the Behavior in Sports Summit is as follows:

Monday, August 14, 2023

6:00 – 8:30 p.m. – Registration, Reception and Opening Keynote Speaker Anne Marie Anderson, three-time Emmy Award winning broadcaster with three decades in sports television

Tuesday, August 15, 2023

8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. – Full Day of Meetings (NFHS to provide breakfast and lunch). It is anticipated most of the sessions will be panel discussions.

Wednesday, August 16, 2023

8:00 a.m. – Noon – (NFHS to provide breakfast only)

There is no cost to attend the Behavior in Sport Summit, so please register for the Summit here today. When you complete the registration form, you will have an opportunity to tell us if you are interested in being a panel speaker. We will be developing topics for panel discussions in the coming weeks and will be providing that information when the agenda is more fully developed. We know there are behavior issues in high school sports that have caused officials to leave the avocation and keep others from joining – we have addressed those issues at the first two NFHS Officiating Consortiums. We now want to hear from you about solutions – how do we go about changing the atmosphere and culture at events so that more people want to attend and officiate high school games?

If you are in need of a hotel room at the Conrad Hotel where the Summit will be held, below is a link to book your room during the August 14-16 time period at the special conference rate of $133 per night:
