USABA Hosts ‘Train the Trainer’ Programs for Adaptive Sports

As part of the United States Olympic Committee (USOC) Integrated Sports Program, the United States Association of Blind Athletes (USABA) is pleased to  invite up to 8 VA staff to a “Train the Trainer” program in the Sports of Goalball and Disabled Cycling to be held in Colorado Springs, CO; September 8-11, 2013. 

Selected attendees will have the opportunity to learn how to play and learn beginner coaching strategies in the sport of Goalball with the goal of advancing and coaching Goalball locally for disabled Veterans and disabled members of the Armed Forces with visual impairments; and learn cycling techniques and beginner strategies to promote cycling.

VA staff including BRC RT’s, OT’s, VISTs, or BROs interested in attending should email a brief letter of intent to Matt Simpson, USABA Membership and Outreach Coordinator at msimpson@usaba.org.

Those interested should include their name, title, location, and a brief statement on how they can advance the sport of goalball for Veterans members of the Armed Forces with visual impairments. Deadline to apply is August 10, 2013.
