International Triathlon Union (ITU) World Triathlon Chicago today announced a partnership with Columbia Management, one of the nation's largest asset managers, that designates the firm as the financial services sponsor of the ITU World Triathlon Series event in Chicago. This year's event takes place June 27-29.

The partnership is in conjunction with a three-year agreement between ITU and Threadneedle Investments, a leading international asset manager and global financial sponsor of the World Triathlon Series. Columbia Management and Threadneedle Investments form the global asset management business of Ameriprise Financial.

ITU World Triathlon Chicago will feature Olympic-caliber elite triathletes and paratriathletes as well as amateur age-groupers all racing in the same venue in and around Grant Park. More than 4,000 athletes will compete in six events contested over two days, beginning in Lake Michigan and ending at Buckingham Fountain.

As part of its sponsorship, Columbia Management will donate 60 race entries to athletes competing on behalf of Dare2tri, a local Chicago paratriathlon club. The entries are valued up to $10,000.

"We are pleased to announce our partnership with ITU World Triathlon Chicago," said Ted Truscott, CEO of global asset management. "Just like the competing triathletes, reaching our performance goals matters at Columbia Management, and how we reach them matters just as much."

"We are pleased to welcome Columbia Management aboard as an official partner of the inaugural ITU World Triathlon Chicago," said Franzi Petermann, Managing Director of the event. "Columbia Management has a long and proud history of delivering for investors, and the emphasis the firm places on the investment process aligns with the goals we have for hosting the best possible event this June."
