ABILENE, Texas – Abilene recently received word that their bid to host the 2012, 2013 and 2014 Texas Tennis Coaches Association (TTCA) 3A State Team Tennis Tournaments had been selected. It is a special event for the players and teams that qualify for competition.
The tournament has been held at the John Newcombe Tennis Ranch & Tennis Academy in New Braunfels for the past two years and in Waco three years prior to that. Abilene’s own, Rose Park Tennis Center received the bid for the next three years. The proposed dates for the tournament are as follows: March 9-10, 2012; March 8-9, 2013; and March 7-8, 2014. This event is expected to bring in 600 players and fans annually, generating an estimated economic impact of $132,000 into Abilene’s local economy each year the tournament is held.
