IRONMAN has announced that general registration for the inaugural 2023 IRONMAN 70.3 New York – Jones Beach triathlon has sold out. With the sell-out, the event will play host to the largest inaugural IRONMAN 70.3 event in the history of the IRONMAN 70.3 brand with approximately 3,800 registered athletes.

IRONMAN 70.3 New York – Jones Beach is scheduled to take place on Saturday, September 23, 2023.

The announcement tops a milestone last set at the debut of the IRONMAN 70.3 Indian Wells-La Quinta triathlon in 2018 (and previously by 2016 IRONMAN Coeur d’Alene, and 2012 IRONMAN 70.3 South Africa).

For those still trying to gain entry into IRONMAN 70.3 New York – Jones Beach, a limited number of entries remain available through The IRONMAN Foundation and Enhanced Athlete Event Experiences via Nirvana.

“When we first identified Jones Beach as a potential host location for an IRONMAN 70.3 triathlon, we knew that this destination would be very desirable and athletes have shown that,” said Dave Christen, Senior Regional Director for The IRONMAN Group.

“We are proud to host events in highly desirable locations across the series. We can’t wait for our athletes to come and experience some of the most beautiful beaches, stunning scenery, beautiful weather, and the close proximity to New York City.”

The announcement marks the fifth and largest IRONMAN 70.3 triathlon to sell out in North America for 2023. For athletes that may have missed out on registering for the 2023 IRONMAN 70.3 New York, regional events such as IRONMAN 70.3 Western Massachusetts on June 11, IRONMAN 70.3 Maine North American TriClub Championship – Northeast on July 30, and IRONMAN 70.3 Atlantic City on September 10, remain open for registration.

The 2023 IRONMAN 70.3 New York triathlon will see athletes kick off their 70.3-mile journey with a 1.2-mile swim in the protected Zach’s Bay framed by the Jones Beach Amphitheater before embarking upon the 56-mile closed bike course on the flat and fast Wantagh Parkway.

The 13.1-mile run course takes athletes onto the boardwalk alongside the Atlantic Ocean with an finish line on the beach.

IRONMAN 70.3 New York offers age group qualifying slots to the 2024 IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship taking place on December 14 & 15, 2024 in Taupō, New Zealand.
