2017 State Games of America Sports Lineup and Venues Announced

Officials with the West Michigan Sports Commission and the Meijer State Games of Michigan released the sports lineup and list of venues for the 2017 State Games of America. The 2017 Games will be held in Grand Rapids, Michigan on August 3-6. Sports and venues are subject to change as the State Games of America dates approach.

Over 45 sports have been confirmed for the 2017 State Games of America. See attached for the current sports lineup and venues. The Opening Ceremonies will take place at Van Andel Arena on August 4, with the Athlete Village located at the DeVos Place Convention Center.

Registration is scheduled to open in September 2016. For more information stay tuned to www.stategamesofamerica.com.

The State Games of America is an Olympic-style event featuring competition between medal winners (gold, silver, bronze) from State Games across the nation. All athletes from Michigan are eligible to participate. Currently, 33 states conduct or organize statewide sports festivals known as State Games.

The 2017 State Games of America is expected to bring 12,000+ athletes and their families and inject $5.6 million in direct visitor spending to Grand Rapids.

Current 2017 State Games of America sponsors include Meijer, Metro Health, Fox Motors and Subway.
