Holiday Basketball Classic Returns to Palm Beaches

The Holiday Basketball Classic of the Palm Beaches, a national high school basketball invitational is back and better than ever. Now in its 2nd year (2016-2017), HBC is one of the most anticipated high school events in Palm Beach County featuring 32 teams consisting of more than 640 athletes from Georgia, Kentucky, Maryland, Tennessee, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Virginia and Florida.

This year’s tournament is set for Thursday, December 28 through Saturday, December 30, and boasts four teams ranked in the top 100 in the state of Florida. Two teams ranked in the top 100 from the state of Kentucky; one team ranked in the top 100 in the state of New York and one team ranked in the top 25 from the State of Virginia by Max Preps.  Teams will play at various basketball facilities in Palm Beach County including William T. Dwyer High School, Palm Beach Gardens High School and The Benjamin School.

Some of the players taking the court include: Class of 2019 Bryce Wills, a 6’6 Shooting Guard from Iona Preparatory School with offers from Villanova, Michigan, Miami (FL), Gonzaga and more. Class of 2019 Malcolm Wilson, 6’11 Center from Ridge View High School with offers from South Carolina and Clemson. The son of former NBA player Walt Williams, Kamari Williams a 6’7 Small Forward from St. Andrew's Episcopal School with offers from St. Joseph's, George Mason, UAB and Monmouth; Class of 2019 India Bellamy, 6’2 Forward from Palm Beach Lakes Community High School. She has offers from Clemson, Marshall and Furman; Danielle Waggoner, 5’7 Guard from Graves County High School. She averaged over 43% from 3 and averaged 17.2 points per game.

Teams will be competing in two Championship Divisions for both Boys’ and Girls’ High School brackets. There will be a National Championship Division for eight boys’ teams and eight girls’ teams and an American Challenge Division for eight boys’ teams and eight girls’ teams. 

Ticket information:  Tickets will be available to purchase online in advance (check the website for availability) or at each site on game day.  Tournament passes will be available for all three sites and all three days, and must be purchased online.
