Oceanside to Host Honor Bowl Invitational

Forget the fall foliage and instead pursue an endless summer of fun in Oceanside, Calif. San Diego's North Shore has an exciting line-up of fall events that provide enriching getaway experiences with tremendous value. Oceanside Honor Bowl Football Invitational and Military Expo on September 6 & 7, 2013: Oceanside High School will play host to the 2013 Honor Bowl, a high school football showcase to benefit military veterans. The bowl will feature eight elite varsity high school football programs from the Southern California region, as well as the Marine Camp Pendleton football teams. The event will also include halftime shows, parachute drops, a military memorial wall and food court. The Oceanside event will take place on Friday, September 6 and Saturday, September 7. Teams participating include Oceanside High, Corona Centennial, Serra Gardena, Notre Dame, Del Oro, Upland, Oaks Christian and Saint Bonaventure. www.thehonorgroup.org

A week later, there’s the  OAA Summer Fly-In Car Show on September 14, 2013. Oceanside Airport Association presents a fun-filled afternoon featuring vintage planes, classic cars, skydiving exhibitions, remote controlled jets, the go-fast jet pack man and great food! The event is free and will take place from noon to 3 p.m. at Maxwell Field at Oceanside Airport, 480 Airport Road. www.socalcarculture.com
