The March 24 Tour de Saddleback returns for its annual event and will be offering 50, 35 and 15-mile ride options through scenic parts of Orange County. Participants have the opportunity to ride through seven different communities and cities, including Laguna Hills, Santiago Canyon, Rancho Santa Margarita and Irvine. A portion of all proceeds from the event will go directly to Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation (PCRF), headquartered locally in Irvine, CA.

PCRF raises funds to accelerate scientific breakthroughs that transform pediatric cancer care. Since 1982, PCRF has invested more than $58 million in pediatric cancer research, contributing to great advancements in treatment. PCRF raises a large portion of its funds through events, like the Tour de Saddleback, while making an impact nationwide. The Orange County local community hosting and taking part in these events assists the foundation in pursuing its mission to “fund research to power cures that reduce the percentage of children who perish from cancer until that number reaches zero.”

The Tour de Saddleback will start and finish in the heart of Orange County at Irvine Valley College. The course will take participants through multiple scenic areas of the county. The focus of the race is a noncompetitive ride to enjoy the local area, and all participants will be required to obey all traffic laws as they move through the course. Aid stations will be provided along the route for all participants to utilize.

“This is our second year leading this event, and our team has already grown so fond of it,” said Mike Bone, President and CEO of Spectrum Sports Management, which produces Tour de Saddleback. “Being a part of such a unique event that highlights our beautiful county while also gathering locals and visitors is such a great experience. And being able to give back to the community through fundraising for the Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation is just the cherry on top!”

Participants of the ride will receive a bike card, an event t-shirt, a finisher medal and participants 21 and older will receive a complimentary beer at the end of the event. All additional beer sales will be donated directly to PCRF. You can register for the Tour de Saddleback here. Participants also have the unique opportunity to participate in any distance of the Tour de Saddleback and Reaching for the Cure event to receive the iconic brick award, which will feature a plaque stating, “I did a Brick to Help Cure Pediatric Cancer”.
