Known as the birthplace of the Civil Rights Movement, Montgomery, Alabama will once again host athletes, coaches and administrators from The Big Ten Conference, an association of world-class universities from across the country for the “Big Life Series: Selma to Montgomery,” a weekend dedicated to a transformative diversity and inclusion educational experience.

In partnership with Historical Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU’s) from around the country and Experience Montgomery, the athletes from The Big Ten Conference will visit the nationally significant Civil Rights sites, trace the heroic steps of prominent Civil Rights leaders, and engage with esteemed social justice leaders July 14-16.

Montgomery, Alabama offers a one-of-a-kind immersive experience that will educate the athletes about the history of social injustices and the importance of diversity and inclusion to help prepare them to make a difference around the world beyond their athletic career for years to come.

Some nationally significant experiences the athletes will encounter include:

-         Equal Justice Initiative’s National Memorial for Peace and Justice

-         Legacy Museum

-         Rosa Parks Museum

-         Civil Rights Memorial and Center

-         Dexter Avenue King Memorial Baptist Church Freedom Rides Museum.
