Mobile Has Sizzling Sports - For All Seasons

Mobile’s sports scene is sizzling this summer, and straight through the fall.

 

AHSAA Football Officials' State Training Camp

(Southern Division)

Mobile Marriott

August 10 – 12

This annual training camp is required for all AHSAA-sanctioned football officials in advance of the high school football season. This is a hands-on camp hosted at the Mobile Marriott with both classroom and on-the-field instruction, including intrasquad scrimmages/competitions. There will be 130 officials from the Southern division of Alabama (Dothan, Tuscaloosa, Montgomery, and Mobile) in attendance along with 20 instructors for this 3-day camp. Sixteen Mobile County high school football teams will participate with scrimmages for the officials.

 

Mobile Cycling Classic

South Mobile County Commerce Park

August 12 - 13

Are you looking for a "breakaway?" Then head to the Mobile Cycling Classic in South Mobile for two days of cycling competition August 12-13.

There will be three stages of competition comprising the two-day event. Stage One is the Alabama State Championship Race on Saturday, August 12 from 8 AM - 1 PM, Stage Two is the criterium from 3:30 PM - 9:30 PM, and Stage Three is the circuit race on Sunday, August 13 from 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM.

The criterium, commonly known as a crit, is an intense, fast-paced race. The crit course challenges riders as they make numerous laps in a relatively short timeframe. The series of races, which last between 20 and 60 minutes, is divided into various skill categories for men and women.

Cyclists from throughout the region come to town to compete for bragging rights and cash prizes. Sanctioned by USA Cycling, the Mobile Cycling Classic is a must-do event for all cycling enthusiasts.

 

Mobile Challenge of Champions Cross Country Meet

Langan Municipal Park

August 31 - September 2

In its 31st year, the Mobile Challenge of Champions Cross Country Meet will attract up to 800 athletes, coaches, and supporters from all over the country.

This three-day event is one of the top cross country early-season meets in the nation and is one not to miss!

Schedule of Events:

Thursday, August 31 - Independent Division races begin at 4:30 PM.

Friday, September 1 - Middle School and Freshman Division races begin at 4:00 PM.

Saturday, September 2 - Open Division races begin at 7:30 AM, followed by Invitational Division.

 

2023 Game Time National Youth Sports Labor Day Weekend Classic Football Tournament

Herndon Sage Park

September 1 - 3

More than 40 youth football teams from across the region will descend upon Herndon Sage Park on Labor Day weekend for the Game Time National Youth Sports Labor Day Weekend Classic Football Tournament. Players aged 5-14 will compete in their respective categories for a spot in the national tournament.
