The Special Olympics National Tennis Championship held on Hilton Head Island marked the 16th year Professional Tennis Registry (PTR) hosted the exciting event.

The Championships has provided competition and camaraderie for more than 1,500 athletes from across the United States, as well as trained hundreds of volunteer coaches to teach tennis to people with intellectual disabilities.  As the Official Training Partner for Special Olympics Tennis, PTR is proud to provide coach education during each tournament, training more than 600 coaches and volunteers.

In addition, through its Foundation, PTR has given free tennis equipment - tennis balls, transition balls, training manuals and videos, ball hoppers, mini nets and pickup tubes - to all programs in attendance.

To get involved with next year’s Special Olympics Tennis Championships (October 14-16), contact Julie Jilly at 843-785-7244.

PTR is the largest global organization of tennis teaching professionals with more than 15,000 members in 125 countries.  It has the greatest percentage of multicultural and women members of any such organization.  PTR is dedicated to educating, certifying and servicing tennis teachers and coaches around the world in order to grow the game.
