USA Triathlon will hold the 2014 USA Paratriathlon National Championships in conjunction with the Life Time Tri CapTex in Austin, Texas, for the third consecutive year.

Slated for Memorial Day - May 26, 2014 - USA Paratriathlon Nationals will feature top American paratriathletes racing for national titles on a 750-meter swim, 20-kilometer bike, 5-kilometer run sprint-distance course. Revised classification standards are expected to be announced soon by the International Triathlon Union (ITU), and information on athlete eligibility for this National Championship event will be available on usatriathlon.org at a later date.

In 2013, 14 inspirational athletes were crowned national champions in their respective paratriathlon competition categories. For more on the 2013 USA Paratriathlon National Championships, visit usatriathlon.org.

"For the past two years, the Life Time Tri CapTex and the city of Austin have been outstanding hosts for our growing paratriathlon population, and we're anticipating another great year for USA Paratriathlon Nationals in 2014," said Rob Urbach, USA Triathlon CEO. "The support paratriathletes receive from race organizers and spectators makes this a memorable race experience for all."

"At Life Time we strive to create events in which athletes of all levels and abilities can participate and enjoy," said Kimo Seymour, Vice President, Life Time Athletic Events. "We are honored that USA Triathlon and its athletes have chosen to return to Austin and proud that Life Time Tri CapTex will play host to such an inspiring event for a third consecutive year."

USA Paratriathlon Nationals is the first of three top-level domestic paratriathlon competitions in 2014. Following the event in Austin, paratriathletes will face off against international fields at the Pan American Triathlon Confederation (PATCO) Championships on June 1 in Dallas and the Chicago ITU World Paratriathlon Event on June 28-29 in Chicago.

Interest in paratriathlon is at an all-time high, and the sport continues to grow following an announcement in December 2010 that it will debut at the Paralympic Summer Games in 2016 in Rio de Janeiro. Visit usatriathlon.org for more on the sport of paratriathlon.
