USA Triathlon today unveiled the dates and locations for its 2021 National Championships, a robust calendar of events across the country that will take place with COVID-19 precautions in place according to USA Triathlon’s Safe Return to Multisport guidelines.

With the majority of USA Triathlon National Championships in 2020 impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, several 2021 events will return to their planned 2020 destinations.

Registration powered by TicketSocket will open in the coming weeks for the following USA Triathlon-owned events: USA Triathlon Duathlon National Championships (Tuscaloosa, Ala., May 22-23), USA Triathlon Youth & Junior Nationals (West Chester, Ohio, July 31-Aug. 1), Toyota USA Triathlon Age Group National Championships (Milwaukee, Wis., Aug. 7-8), and the Legacy Triathlon (Long Beach, Calif., July 16-18).

Legacy Triathlon weekend will also encompass the Toyota USA Paratriathlon National Championships and, for the first time, the Aquathlon National Championships.

Registration for the USA Triathlon Collegiate Club National Championships (Tempe, Ariz., April 9-10) will open in January.

Athletes deferring their registrations from impacted 2020 USA Triathlon-owned events to 2021 will receive additional details from USA Triathlon in the coming weeks.

The USA Triathlon Age Group Draft-Legal Sprint National Championships and the varsity Women’s Collegiate Triathlon National Championships will return to Tempe, Arizona, in November — with the exact date to be announced in the coming months.

Also returning to their planned 2020 destinations are the Off-Road National Championships (Hewitt, N.J., May 15), as part of the Way Over Yonder Off-Road Triathlon & Duathlon hosted by Ready Set Go Adventures; Clydesdale & Athena National Championships (Chattanooga, Tenn., June 27), as part of the Chattanooga Waterfront Triathlon hosted by Team Magic; and Ultra-Distance National Championships (Clermont, Fla., Oct. 23), as part of the Great Floridian Triathlon hosted by Sommer Sports.

The 2021 Winter Triathlon National Championships will head to Anchorage, Alaska, for the first time on Jan. 16 as part of the Tri-Flake Winter Triathlon hosted by the Alaska Triathlon Club.

The former USA Triathlon Multisport National Championships Festival will now be referred to as the USA Triathlon Long Course National Championships, and will include championship events in long course triathlon, long course duathlon, long course aquabike and standard distance aquabike. The 2021 Long Course Nationals will be held Sept. 25-26 in Stony Point, New York, as part of the Toughman Triathlon.

In addition, an Age Group Draft-Legal World Qualifier will be held April 9 in Tempe, Arizona, alongside Collegiate Club Nationals. While not a National Championship, this sprint-distance triathlon will qualify top athletes in each age group for the draft-legal 2021 World Triathlon Age Group Sprint Championships in October in Bermuda (exact dates TBD).

At several National Championships in the 2021 season, amateur athletes will race not only for national titles, but also for the chance to represent Team USA at the 2022 World Triathlon Age Group Championships for their respective disciplines. For more information about Team USA qualification, visit usatriathlon.org/teamusa.

A multi-tiered pricing system will be in effect for the 2021 USA Triathlon Age Group, Duathlon and Youth & Junior Nationals. Once each tier fills to capacity (dependent on total race inventory), pricing will automatically increase to the next tier. Pricing tiers for each event can be found on the event’s respective registration page.

Dates and locations for all 2021 USA Triathlon Regional and State Championships will be announced in the coming months.
