The Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) Foundation announced the Drive On for the Future” Virtual Scramble, a two-person scramble fundraiser with the goal of bringing the golf community together to empower and inspire more girls through the game of golf.

The tournament was inspired by the recent success of the Virtual Pro-Am and Virtual Scramble hosted by the LPGA Professionals and LPGA Amateurs, respectively. From Aug. 28 to Sept. 13, over 1,100 players and 191 teams raised $56,185 for the LPGA Renee Powell Grant, the LPGA Amateurs Women on Par Scholarship and the LPGA Professionals COVID-Relief Fund.

For the “Drive On for the Future” Virtual Scramble, members of the golf community are invited to create a team of two, one adult and one junior (under 18) or two adults, and play a two-person scramble at any 18-hole or 9-hole course of their choice. Registered teams will have the  opportunity to win prizes and access a leaderboard with weekly updates. Entrance fees consist of a $50 donation per adult, with LPGA*USGA Girls Golf members and junior golfers included in the donation from their accompanying adult. Players will still need to pay the local golf course fees to play their round.

“In a year where it has been challenging for our LPGA family to get together in person it is nice to be able to come together virtually to support a great cause,” said LPGA Foundation President Nancy Henderson. “We are excited to utilize the dollars raised through this fundraiser to ensure that every girl has the opportunity to take advantage of the many benefits that the game of golf has to offer.”

Scramble rounds can be played any day between now and Nov. 15. The tournament will assist the LPGA Foundation in its continued journey towards “Changing the Face of the Game” by providing opportunities for girls through the Renee Powell Fund and Phyllis G. Meekins Scholarship.
