Montgomery to Welcome Back Alabama-Mississippi All Star Football Game

Crampton Bowl to Play Host Once Again

Alabama and Mississippi All-Star football squads reported Monday to begin preparations for the 27th annual Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Football Game at Cramton Bowl this Saturday, December 14, 2013. The Game is a project of the Alabama High School Athletic Directors & Coaches Association, the coaches’ organization of the AHSAA.

This is the second year that this prestigious game is being played at Montgomery’s newly renovated Cramton Bowl Multiplex, and one of many successful sporting events cultivated by the Central Alabama Sports Commission and the Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce Convention and Visitor Bureau.

Tickets to the game are available for $10 at http://www.al-msallstarfootball.com/TicketInfo.aspx. Kickoff is at 12:00 p.m. Alabama broadcast partner Raycom will televise the game live beginning at noon over its extensive network of affiliate stations in Alabama and Mississippi. WSFA TV 12 in Montgomery will once again serve as the flagship station for the network.

Both teams checked in at the Cramton Bowl Multiplex between 4 and 5 p.m. Monday and toured the Hyundai Plant Monday night. Today they begin and two-a-day drills. The Alabama squad will practice at Faulkner University and Mississippi at Huntingdon College.  The All-Stars will practice daily at 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. each day, said Alvin Briggs, Director of the AHSADCA. On Thursday, the afternoon practice will begin at 3 p.m. and will be held at Stanhope Elmore High School in Elmore. The players will then enjoy a Low Country Boil at the Millbrook Community Center that night.

Coach Woodrow Lowe of Central-Phenix City will serve as Alabama’s head coach. Alabama won last year’s game at Cramton Bowl 21-16 and holds a 19-7 edge in the series with a five-game winning streak heading into Saturday’s game.

Two players have been added to Alabama’s 40-man roster with Spanish Fort’s Hunter Wood and Gadsden City’s T.J. Posey replacing Carver-Montgomery wide receiver Landy Capetillo and Jackson’s Gavin Bryant.  Wood, 6-foot-5, 250, played for Spanish Fort’s 2013 Class 5A state champions. Posey, 6-1, 225, played inside linebacker For Gadsden City’s Titans.
