Registration deadline is August 1, 2013 for “Learn to Race” Cycling Development Camp for riders with physical disabilities at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado, from September 6 - 13, 2013.

The event is presented in partnership with Disabled Sports USA (DSUSA), U.S. Hand cycling (USHF) and U.S. Paralympics, the United States Association of Blind Athletes (USABA.

Whether an individual’s goal is to become an Elite Paralympic Cyclist, or whether he or she simply wants to explore bike racing opportunities in the U.S., the camp presents a good background.

Athletes must fall under one of the UCI (Union Cycliste International) sanctioned classifications. Athletes must also possess the fitness and equipment necessary to complete the week-long cycling camp.

Disabled Veterans and Active Duty Service Members are strongly encouraged to attend! Grant funding for this program is awarded by U.S. Paralympics, a division of the U.S. Olympic Committee, through funding provided by Veterans Affairs. The grants are provided to facilitate the growth of Paralympic sport programming for disabled Veterans and disabled members of the Armed Forces.

Cyclists will learn bike handling skills, safe riding techniques, and road racing strategies.  Athletes will ride twice per day, and will average between 150-180 miles for the week. Riders will practice skills, engage in race simulations and have nightly classroom discussions.
