Twin Cities In Motion, organizer of the Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon and a host of year-round running events in Minneapolis and St. Paul, has extended its partnership with Twin Cities-based Team USA Minnesota, the elite long distance running training center that has developed 24 national champions and sent dozens of athletes to international competitions, including the Olympic Games.

A sponsor of Team USA Minnesota since its inception in 2001, Twin Cities In Motion has extended through 2018 the annual $30,000 contribution to the team it initiated in 2014. The partnership makes Twin Cities In Motion Team USA Minnesota’s lone partner at the Gold Sponsor level.

Twin Cities In Motion’s sponsorship of Team USA Minnesota will help the program provide support for its coach, Chris Lundstrom, and will assist in covering a portion of the stipends and travel expenses for the team’s elite runner roster.

“We’re pleased to continue our support of Team USA Minnesota,” Twin Cities In Motion executive director Virginia Brophy Achman said. “We’re proud of our long-term relationship with the program, and we’re honored to have been a part of its success since 2001. It not only develops successful runners competing at the highest levels of the sport, but also cultivates role models – for kids, by personifying active lives, and for adults, through their dedication and achievements.”

Team USA Minnesota’s distance runners compete on the roads, the track and in cross country at national and international events, including championships and on world teams. The roster includes both men and women who race at distances from the 1500 meters/mile through the marathon.

“We are proud to be based in Minnesota and to represent such a great organization as Twin Cities In Motion,” Patricia Goodwin, president and founder of Team USA Minnesota said. “The renewed commitment to our training group fits perfectly with the next Olympic cycle leading up to the 2020 Games as well as our continued mission to be a focal point for distance running, a sport that attracts thousands of people of all ages for fitness, exercise and competition.  We truly appreciate this partnership with an organization that has been with us since the beginning.”

Team USA Minnesota is based in the Twin Cities of Minneapolis/St. Paul. Founded in 2001, the purpose of the training center is to improve the competitiveness of post-collegiate American distance running and to develop Olympians. More information can be found at www.teamusaminnesota.org.
