The Smith River Sports Complex (SRSC) in Martinsville, Virginia, is excited to announce it will be hosting the 2017 Bassett Bengal Bash Soccer Jamboree this Saturday, March 4. The seventh annual event will bring 40 boys and girls varsity and junior varsity soccer teams to Martinsville.

"The Bengal Bash is a very important event for regional high school soccer," Houston Stutz, SRSC Director of Marketing, said. "There's no other jamboree or tournament that brings this many high school teams together at one facility and we couldn't be more excited to be the host of such a great event."

For most of the squads, it will be their first opportunity to take the field against other teams in live action, which also means it will be the first chance local fans can see Piedmont District teams in action.

From the Piedmont District, Bassett, G.W. Danville, Magna Vista, Martinsville and Patrick County will be participating.

Games will kick off at 9 a.m. and are scheduled to begin every 45-50 minutes. The final set of games will begin around 6:00 p.m. Due to the pre-season jamboree format, games will consist of just one half. Varsity matches will last 40 minutes, while junior varsity matches will be 35 minutes. Each team is scheduled to play at least three opponents throughout the course of the day.

Admission to the jamboree will be $7 for all attendees ages 5 and older. Tickets will be good for the duration of the event and re-entering is allowed.
