You’ll find your sports sweet spot nestled in the center of Texas. Conveniently located between Austin and San Antonio, San Marcos is known for its natural beauty and outdoor amenities. From off-the-beaten-track races to collegiate level play, our facilities are a natural fit for your next tournament or event.

Cycling - Road, Trail or Tri
Whether you’re planning a road race that winds through the scenic Texas Hill Country or a challenging mountain bike race on natural trails, hosting your event in this unforgettable location will thrill your adventure-loving cyclists. With straight flats to winding hills, road races in San Marcos range from beginner level to USA Cycling-sanctioned. San Marcos mountain biking courses vary from wide and easy to natural single-track to “good thing I’m wearing a helmet” rocky climbs. Race through 1,200-plus acres of some of the best parkland available. And don’t even get us started on the triathlon and swim-bike-run event possibilities! Where else can one swim in spring-fed water, bike on park trails and run through scenic streets, all in the middle of town?

A River Runs Through it
Many of our sports venues are located along the San Marcos River –a great way for teams to relax after a hard day of play. Rio Vista Tennis Complex with six outdoor courts, is adjacent to our premier river park and Rio Vista Falls.

Shaded by giant cypress trees and always a refreshing 72 degrees, the crystal clear, spring-fed San Marcos River is home to both recreational and professional athletes. Kayakers train for the Olympic trials year-round at Rio Vista Park’s white water rapids. US Kayak Polo National teams face off in the river’s deep-water pools. Stand Up Paddle just flows naturally along our river. And for the past 50-plus years, Texas Water Safari has launched its 260-mile canoe race from Spring Lake, the headwaters of the San Marcos River.

Five-Mile Dam Soccer Complex
Flanked to the south by the Blanco River, Five-Mile Dam Soccer Complex boasts 10 fields and easy access off Interstate 35. These quality sport fields host youth- and adult-level soccer tournaments, flag football, lacrosse and running events as well. Pavilions and playgrounds keep participants comfortable and entertained while the Blanco River that runs along the complex makes everyone happy once the tournament is finished.

Softball and Baseball Fields
It’s a whole different ball game at San Marcos’ fields! Gary Softball Complex houses a total of eight lighted fields and is host to many USA Softball of Texas sanctioned tournaments each year. Ramon Lucio Park Baseball Complex has four regulation youth fields with new upgraded LED lights recently installed. It is just a stroll down the trails to a refreshing plunge in the San Marcos River.

Texas State University Track and Field Complex
If you are looking for collegiate level play, the facilities at Texas State University in San Marcos are a perfect fit. Their latest addition is the Track and Field Stadium. Featuring an NCAA regulation track that can be set up for the steeplechase, the stadium has a runway and pits for long jump and triple jump, as well as areas for high jump and pole vault. There are also safe zones for shot put, discus, hammer throw and javelin. Bleacher seating is available for 1,000 with permanent restrooms and concession area.

Where Shopping is a Sport, Too
