More than 500 teams from 42 states and 15 countries will be arriving in Dallas mid-October to take home the biggest prize in Food Sport. But for local food fans, the biggest news might turn out to be what those competitors think about the local Food Truck scene.

For the first time in World Food Championships (WFC) history, Food Champs from around the world will be casting their votes to find out who has the best food truck in Dallas. Ten of Dallas's most successful food trucks have been invited to show off their culinary chops at WFC this year, and consumers will get a taste of the action as well.

"We're going to put these Food Trucks to the test," commented Mike McCloud, president and CEO of WFC. "Our Food Champs know a thing or two about great culinary dishes. So they're already looking to flip the tables and actually judge for a change. Who will they crown as our first Food Truck Champion? We can't wait to find out and see if it's the same choice as Dallas foodies make!"

Thanks to a partnership with Dallas Observer, locals can be a part of the judging process through a special online contest called WFC’s Food Truck Face-Off.

The following Dallas-based food trucks will be competing for the trophy, ultimate bragging right and a WFC 2020 Golden Ticket (which qualifies them for next year’s championship):

Foodies may cast their votes now through noon CDT October 7. The online portion of the competition will make up 50 percent of the final scores and will be combined with on-site scores from WFC Food Champs.

Each participating food truck will present one dish of their choice from its current menu to the panel of WFC Food Champs. Don’t despair, as the judges are not the only ones who will have the chance to taste what these local food trucks are cooking up.

WFC attendees will have the opportunity to purchase food truck cuisines from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m on Saturday, October 20th. Afterward, the winner of the inaugural WFC Food Truck Face-Off will be announced live on-site.
