The Redbud Park Softball Fields will be busy this weekend as Abilene and Cooper High School co-host the AISD Ice Breaker Fast-pitch Softball Tournament. Sixteen teams from around the region will participate in a round robin tournament.

Even though this particular tournament is smaller this year due to changes within the district and funding, Coach Shay Cox from AHS and Coach Arin Spence from CHS are excited to bring this tournament to Abilene again and have worked for several months to put it together. The two coaches anticipate approximately 300 participants and fans to attend the tournament. An estimated $69,750 in economic impact will be brought into the Abilene community from the efforts of this tournament.

The games are scheduled to begin on Thursday, Feb. 17 at 10 a.m. and will continue through Saturday, Feb. 19 until 5 p.m. Cost: $4 for adults and $2 for students/children at the gate.
