The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced that Dakota State (S.D.) has reached an agreement to extend its contract as the host of the NAIA Indoor Track & Field National Championship through the 2022 season.

Dakota State just completed its first year as host of the championships at the Sanford Jackrabbit Athletic Complex in Brookings, S.D., where the institution was awarded the Best New Championship Host award by the NAIA in August.

“We are excited to be able to continue hosting the NAIA National Indoor Track and Field Championship meet,” said Jeff Dittman, Dakota State Director of Athletics. “We have a group of people that worked very hard to put together a successful national (championship) meet this past year and we are looking forward to making it an even better student-athlete and fan experience in the future. We want to thank the NAIA for the opportunity to continue hosting this championship event.”

“We are thrilled to be returning to Sanford-Jackrabbit Athletic Complex and Brookings, S.D., for our indoor track & field championship,” said Mike Higgins, NAIA Director of Championships. “Dakota State was awarded the “NAIA Best New Host” award in 2019, which recognizes the best new host of an NAIA National Championship. Our excellence award was a well-deserved honor by Dakota State. The overall job of hosting our championship was excellent.”
