Sertz Elected to Lead PA Sports Organization Erie Sports Commission Executive Leads Sports Tourism Agency

Ron Sertz, Executive Director the Erie Sports Commission, has been elected to serve as Chairman of Pennsylvania Sports, the lead agency for sports tourism in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. His term begins July 1, and it is his second term. He was also elected to the post in 2016. 

The Erie Sports Commission is a charter member of PA Sports, and Sertz, who has worked in sports in the Erie region for almost 50 years, instituted the Erie Sports Commission in 2010.  The John Carroll University and Gannon University graduate was named the NASC Sports Tourism Executive of the Year in 2016. Also elected to the PA Sports Executive Committee were Vice-Chair Laura Gurreri, Sales Director for Explore York, Secretary Amy Capcara, Sports Marketing Manager for Visit Monroeville and Mark Jeanneret, Events Director for the Erie Sports Commission. 

PA Sports works to attract and host international, national, regional, and local sporting events in order to showcase Pennsylvania as a viable sports event destination, fostering economic development and enriching the quality of life in the Commonwealth. The organization consists of eleven of Pennsylvania’s largest destination marketing organizations (DMOs) and sports commissions, offering sports event planners one-stop shopping from a wide range of indoor and outdoor facilities in Pennsylvania that offer easy accessibility, affordability, and leisure time attractions.  

The mission of Pennsylvania Sports is to attract and host international, national, regional and local sporting events, and showcase Pennsylvania as a viable sports event destination for professional, collegiate, interscholastic, amateur, and youth sporting ventures, which will foster economic development, and enrich the quality of life in the Commonwealth, making it a better place to visit, live, work, and play.
