First-Time Bowl Game Set for Dollinger Field November 19

The Erie Sports Commission is pleased to announce that the National Club Football Association (NCFA) will host a conference playoff games at Prep-Villa’s Dollinger Field on Saturday, November 19. The game will pit the champion of the North Atlantic Conference against the Great Lakes Conference Champion at 3 p.m. The winner of the game will earn a spot in the 2016 NCFA National Championship Bowl Game in Wheeling, W.Va.

The NCFA is the only intercollegiate club tackle football league sanctioned by CollClubSports in the United States. The organization provides collegiate student-athletes the opportunity to play competitive, organized tackle football while in college.

The North Atlantic Conference features five teams from Vermont and Connecticut, and the Great Lakes Conference features teams from Michigan, Ohio, Illinois, and Wisconsin, including Ohio State, Miami University of Ohio, Michigan State, and Robert Morris University.

The NCFA first moved to a playoff format in 2015. That playoff format saw the four conference champions head to a single neutral site, and opponents selected by seed. Member teams decided on the current NCFA Playoff format, with sites and matchups determined in advance.

“I’m ecstatic to bring this event to Erie with the help of the Erie Sports Commission,” said Sandy Sanderson, President and CEO of CollClub Sports. “We’re going to create a really exciting event for these student-athletes so that they will look forward to playing a playoff game in Erie, Pa. each and every year.”

“CollClub Sports is a perfect fit for Erie, and we’re happy to support their North Atlantic/Great Lakes Playoff Game in November,” said Ron Sertz, Executive Director of the Erie Sports Commission. “The Erie Sports Commission strives to support many different types of events all year long, we’re excited to be able to add to the region’s football calendar.”
