Harrisburg University Challenges Pennsylvania Rivals in 2020 Collegiate Esports Tournament

Harrisburg University has announced the 2020 dates for the 2nd annual PA Collegiate Esports State Championship tournament (PA Cup), which will bring teams from all over the Keystone State to compete in both League of Legends and Overwatch. The tournament will play out over two weekends beginning with qualifying rounds, which teams will play virtually from their home campuses on February 7-8. Teams that advance to finals will battle it out in front of a live audience at Club XL in Harrisburg, the city’s premier music venue,  Saturday, February 15. The PA Cup Finals will also stream on Twitch to thousands of esports fans around the world. This year’s finals will also feature the first high school showmatch at a major tournament.

Last year, more than 30 varsity- and club-level teams from colleges and universities across Pennsylvania went head-to-head in some of the most popular esports games, with the Harrisburg University Storm taking home the trophy for both League of Legends and Overwatch.

About HU Esports: Harrisburg University’s Esports Program is the University’s first–and only–varsity sport. The varsity team competes in some of the most popular esports games around the world, including League of Legends, Overwatch, and Hearthstone. Team members compete on 40’ screens in HU’s state-of-the-art arena space and receive full scholarships as part of the varsity team.
