Erie Poker Run, HydroFlight US Open Tour Highlight Free Public Events June 21-23

The Erie Sports Commission (ESC) will welcome three events to the Bayfront June 21-23, creating the combined Waterfront Weekend.

The Erie Poker Run will return for its fifth consecutive year, June 21 through 23. The popular go-fast powerboat event regularly attracts flashy, high-powered speed boats from the east coast to Wolverine Park Marina and the Sheraton Erie Bayfront Hotel. In the event, performance boating enthusiasts convene in Erie before making stops at establishments on the shores of Lake Erie to complete a poker hand. The event is operated by Elite Poker Runs, LLC.

New for 2019, Elite Poker Runs will display several McLaren Automotive vehicles as well as a race support trailer from McLaren of Boston. The public is encouraged to view the performance boats and cars beginning Friday, June 21.

“These events have been hugely popular in Erie, and we were thrilled to be able to host them on the same weekend as we last did in 2017,” said Mark Jeanneret, executive director of the Erie Sports Commission. “All three events bring unique sights and interesting competition to our Bayfront that we don’t typically see in Erie. It makes for a truly fascinating weekend of sport that spectators will thoroughly enjoy.”

Pro Watercross will once again bring its HydroFlight US Open Tour to Dobbins Landing, Saturday, June 22. Some of the world’s best HydroFlight athletes will perform timed routines beginning at 11 a.m. HydroFlight athletes wear a personal watercraft (PWC) on their feet, which uses the power of water to form a jet stream that sends riders into the air at extreme speeds. This is the third year that the national tour has stopped in Erie. Pro Watercross will also host the SUPxross US Open Tour on Sunday, June 23.

Waterfront Weekend is being supported by Presque Isle Downs & Casino.

Spectator admission is free to the public.
