The 2020 TNT Fireworks B.A.S.S. Nation Northeast Regional Championship, scheduled for June 24-26 in Erie, Pa., has been rescheduled to August 19-21, 2020. The event postponement is due to ongoing concerns related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Out of an abundance of caution, we felt it was best to postpone this tournament,” said Mark Jeanneret, executive director of the Erie Sports Commission (ESC). “We feel strongly that fishing tournaments can be contested safely by maintaining strict social distancing protocols and moving the tournament to August will give us time to implement necessary changes that will ensure participant and community safety. We will continue to work closely with B.A.S.S., Presque Isle State Park and all involved parties over the coming months to execute a safe, but competitive, tournament.”

The ESC had announced in October 2019 that Erie had been awarded the event, part of Bassmaster’s B.A.S.S. Nation Series.

Competing anglers will represent state associations from B.A.S.S. Nation’s Northeastern Region, which encompasses 11 states. The top boater and non-boater from each state will advance to the B.A.S.S. Nation Championship, where the top 3 anglers will qualify for the Academy Sports + Outdoors Bassmaster Classic presented by Huk.

“We are confident in our ability to host a safe event in August. Everyone involved is committed to being prudent in our planning, making the changes that are necessary to adhere to the safety guidelines in place at that time,” said Jeanneret.
