Golf’s PGA Tour has announced that it will stage back-to-back tournaments at Ohio’s Muirfield Village Golf Club this month.

The US-based circuit will stage two events at the club in the space of a fortnight, with a newly created tournament taking place from 9th to 12th July, in the week immediately prior to Jack Nicklaus’ Memorial Tournament.

News of the move, which was first reported by the Associated Press, comes after the PGA Tour announced the cancellation of this year’s John Deere Classic, which was slated to begin on 9th July, due to operational restrictions tied to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The replacement event will be title sponsored by Workday, which already backs multiple top golfers. Further details are set to be released imminently, but it is anticipated that the open event will feature a full field of 156 players and will be staged without spectators.
