Butler County’s Challenger Baseball to Host State Tournament

Players with Special Needs to Take Field

Butler County Challenger Baseball will host the 2013 Challenger Baseball State Tournament July 20-21 at Waterworks Park in Fairfield, Ohio.  The tournament is expected to draw over 500 players from across Ohio and have an economic impact of $450,000 for Butler County.

“We are excited that this tournament will be hosted in Butler County. We look forward to welcoming the competitors and their families to our county,” said Mark Hecquet, Executive Director of the Butler County Visitors Bureau, “This is a fun event for the whole family. We encourage everyone to come out and enjoy the tournament and support our local Challenger Baseball teams.”

Challenger Baseball Leagues are affiliated with Little League Baseball and enable children and young adults from age 5 to 22 with special needs experience the game of baseball. Each year, Challenger holds a tournament for teams throughout Ohio at a different location. Locally, Butler County Challenger Baseball has 175 players divided among 11 teams.

Members of the community and media are invited to come out and support the players during the Challenger Baseball State Tournament, July 20-21 at Waterworks Park in Fairfield.
