The Marine Federal Credit Union Football Jamboree is welcoming the eight Onslow County high schools as well as eight additional schools along Eastern North Carolina. On Friday August 14, 2015, 16 High School Football teams will come together and scrimmage each other aboard Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune. This event will allow Onslow County schools to match up against teams who are not in their immediate conferences, as well as showcase what is to come in the upcoming season.

With the overwhelming turnout from last year’s inaugural football jamboree, the Onlsow County schools are eager to build for the years to come. Through careful consideration and planning, the Jacksonville-Onslow Sports Commission and Onslow County high school head coaches sat down and selected eight schools to scrimmage. The outcome: commitments from New Bern(2014 4-A State Champions), South Lenior, North Duplin, East Duplin, Kinston, East Carteret, Heide Trask and Croatan High School.

“There are few things more exciting than the beginning of a new school year and the hope of successful football season.  The Marine Federal Football Jamboree is an excellent opportunity for our area teams to come together in one place, and show off their talents in front of all the hometown fans” states head coach Justin Snider from Richlands High School.  All coaches are very excited for the new competition they get to pair their teams with.

Teams were excited and enthused to confirm their spots after invitations were sent out. Head coach, Caleb King, of East Carteret High School announces "I'm excited to be involved in an event this good and I believe it will make our team better.” This will certainly be an event you will not want to miss.

About The Marine Federal Credit Union Jamboree: This will be the second annual Football Jamboree held upon Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune. Last years event brought out 1,700 fans and 10 different media outlets. Onslow County JV teams will take the field starting at 5 PM on the 14th and the Varsity teams will begin play at 6:15 PM. Each team will scrimmage 2 teams and will play 20 offensive and 20 defensive snaps per scrimmage. The event will also feature a Field Goal Competition between all 16 kickers and will take place between the two sets of Varsity scrimmages. With help from local sponsors, the event is continuing to grow and offer more with each year to come.
