Freedom Courts Sportsplex to Host Basketball Tournament This Weekend

The American Athletic Union (AAU) Super Regional Basketball Championship will bring basketball  players and their families from around the southeast to Fayetteville for two weekends in April. 

Boys in third through eighth grade will complete at Freedom Courts Sportsplex over two weekends. Spectators are welcome, and the price is $20 at the door. Tournament play will begin at 9 am each day. 

“We are excited to bring licensed and insured AAU basketball events to Fayetteville this April,” said Sean Kilmartin, tournament organizer. “I’m pleased these events are  held at Freedom Courts, a high quality, multi-court facility.”

More than 400 room nights will be used at area hotels over the two weekends. The economic impact of the tournament on Cumberland County’s economy is projected to be $114,000.
