The Missouri State Fair has been proud to call beautiful and historic Sedalia its home for the past 116 years. The annual celebration, held in August, has become renowed in the U.S. and globally for its premier agriculture program. Hundreds of thousands of Missourians make the trek to the nearly 400-acre fairgrounds each year. More than 30,000 entries in livestock and competitive exhibits are shown and more than 4,000 Missouri 4-H and FFA youth participate, making the Fair a notable platform for our emerging agriculture leaders.

In addition to being the state’s largest agricultural expo, the 11-day State Fair also presents world-class family entertainment, including multiple stages of professional entertainment, a grandstand that provides big-name concerts and motorsport events and a magnificent midway with thrilling carnival rides. Of course, the Fair is also popular for its food – corn dogs, funnel cakes, cotton candy and Missouri pork and beef, among many other tasty choices.

The fairgrounds is located at 2503 W. 16th Street, Sedalia, Missouri, and is listed on the National Register of Historic Districts. The nationally recognized architecture is undupllicated, making the accomondations and amenities the perfect choice for a variety of events.

With almost 400 acres, there is plenty to explore on the Fairgrounds. From the historic Main Gate that was built in 1939 to our new one-third scale replica that has recently been installed, there is beauty in the eclectic mix of new and old. The Coliseum has long been the centerpiece of the fairgrounds. Built in 1905-1906, it has been the primary livestock and horse judging arena for many years. Not only does this beautiful building host livestock shows year-round, it has been the site for performances and speeches from numerous entertainers and politicians.  Overall, the Fairgrounds is home to more than 2,200 campsites and the most modern convention and agricultural facilities in the state.

The City of Sedalia offers a unique blend of friendly folks, hidden treasures, hospitality and adventures. Sedalia is rich with historical traditions, diverse cuisine, and many more adventures just waiting to be discovered. In addition to time spent at the Missouri State Fairgrounds, we encourage spending some time exploring the local architecture and strolling through the charming downtown with its specialty shops and restaurants.
