May 23 Event to be at University of Winnipeg

KidSport Winnipeg and former Winnipeg Blue Bomber great Doug Brown have announced plans for the sixth annual KidSport football camp to take place on Saturday, May 23rd 2015.

"KidSport is a grassroots organization whose mandate is as critical as it is simple: “So All Kids Can Play” said Brown.  “All athletes recognize the immeasurable benefits that sports and team activities have on today's youth.  Sports are a constructive vehicle that imparts lessons like teamwork, discipline, sportsmanship, and sacrifice.  It is our honor to hold this camp for these kids and start working with them on these foundations of both sport and life."

Brown, along with a number of current and retired CFL players will be taking kids through all the elements of a football combine, as well as position-specific fundamental drills and exercises.  Along with these technical abilities, players will also provide examples of other important skills such as leadership, practice, hard work, dedication and self-confidence. The camp is open to athletes who received funding in 2014 from KidSport in order to play football and is supported by the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, Elite Performance and KidSport Winnipeg.

"KidSport Winnipeg partnered with Doug Brown and the Winnipeg Blue Bombers five years ago in organizing this camp as just another way to give back directly to the kids we fund,” said the chair of the Winnipeg Region KidSport Committee, Matt Erhard. “It's an immensely positive experience for the kids to learn new skills and interact with some current and alumni Bomber players.”

The camp will take place at The UNITED Health & RecPlex at the University of Winnipeg.
