Sunday River Resort, Newry, Maine, will host the MEMIC Peak2Peak Challenge, presented by the Maine Sports Commission, on September 10, 2016. Racers will summit each of Sunday River’s eight peaks, over 3 miles wide and 2,000 vertical feet, choosing their own course for the fastest time.

MEMIC has selected STRIVE as the charitable beneficiary for the inaugural year. Five dollars from each registration will benefit PSL Services/STRIVE, a nonprofit organization providing support and assistance to people with cognitive disabilities or mental health.

Competitors 13 years and older may race as an individual or in teams of two to four. Teams will have the option of splitting peak assignments between members and must cross the start and finish line together, while individuals must summit all eight peaks on their own. Cash prizes will be awarded to the top three finishers in the individual male, individual female, team of two, and team of four categories.

A Kids and Family Challenge in the resort’s South Ridge area will include a scavenger hunt designed for children ages 4 to 12 years of age. All competitors and spectators are invited to enjoy a festival atmosphere offering live music, food and activities including zip-lining, disc golf, rock climbing, a bungee trampoline, scenic lift rides and mountain biking at Sunday River’s Mountain Park.

The MEMIC Peak2Peak Challenge is hosted by Sunday River, developed and organized by the Maine Sports Commission, with MEMIC named as the title sponsor and additional event support provided by the University of Southern Maine.

Registration opens April 19, 2016! Entry fee is $59 per person until July 1, 2016; $69 after July 1, 2016.
