US Youth Soccer Far West Regionals Kick Off in Honolulu Today

FRISCO, Texas (June 6, 2018) – US Youth Soccer is proud to announce the schedule for the 2018 US Youth Soccer Far West Regional Championships to be played June 18-24 at Waipio Peninsula Soccer Complex in Honolulu.

The US Youth Soccer Far West Regional Championships, which will feature top teams in the 13U through 19U age groups, kick off with group play games Monday, June 18, through Wednesday, June 20. Following a day of rest, quarterfinal matches are Friday, June 22, and semifinals are Saturday, June 23. The remaining US Youth Soccer Far West Regional Champions will be crowned on Sunday, June 24.

US Youth Soccer State Cup and Far West Regional League qualifiers from 14 US Youth Soccer State Associations in the Far West Region, including host Hawaii, will participate. The other State Associations represented are Alaska, Arizona, California North, California South, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, New Mexico, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming.

Teams competing in the Regional Championships advanced through the first step of the US Youth Soccer National Championship Series, where more than 10,000 teams began their journey at the US Youth Soccer State Championships. State champions advance to the one of four US Youth Soccer Regional Championships, where over 900 teams compete.

Regional winners of the 13U through 19U age groups earn a berth to the 2018 US Youth Soccer National Championships, July 23-29, at the Toyota Soccer Center in Frisco, Texas. One of the 14 national crowns awarded is the James P. McGuire Cup, the oldest trophy in youth sports, dating back to 1935 with the inaugural youth championships.

The US Youth Soccer National Championship Series is the country's oldest and most prestigious national youth soccer tournament. The event provides more than 185,000 players from US Youth Soccer's 55 state associations the opportunity to showcase their soccer skills against the best competition in the nation, while emphasizing teamwork, discipline and fair play. The Series is known as the ultimate destination for the country's collegiate soccer coaches and the future of soccer.
