Rock n Roll Savannah Marathon and Half Announces Additional Events

The 2019 Rock ‘n’ Roll® Savannah Marathon & ½ Marathon race weekend kicks off with a Health & Fitness Expo on Thursday, Oct. 31 from 3:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. and Friday, Nov. 1 from 12:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at the Savannah International Trade & Convention Center, Halls A & B.

The expo will showcase vendors featuring the latest in running technologies, fitness apparel, health and nutrition, and is free and open to the public.

The Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series® is excited to announce The Strumbellas as the headliner for the 2019 Rock ‘n’ Roll® Savannah Marathon & ½ Marathon.

On Saturday, Nov. 3, The Strumbellas will take to the Rock ‘n’ Roll Concert Stage outside the finish line festival at Forsyth Park.
 
The Strumbellas are an indie rock sextet that have previously performed at major festivals including, Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza and Austin City Limits. The group’s song, “Spirits,” was released in 2016 and hit No.1 on the Billboard Alternative Songs chart. Along with this accomplishment, The Strumbellas won the iHeartRadio Music award for Best New Alternative Rock Artist of 2017 and the JUNO Award for Single of the Year beating out Drake, The Weeknd and Shawn Mendes. Front man, Simon Ward’s, struggle of balancing work and family is a highlight in the band’s fourth studio album, Rattlesnake. The album released this past March and is a testament to “personal growth and evolution.” The members of the band have stressed that they want their fans to feel something when listening to their music.

Their energy is sure offer a spectacular celebration for runners and spectators who come to the finish line at Rock ‘n’ Roll Savannah this November.”
 
The musically themed Rock ‘n’ Roll Savannah Marathon & ½ Marathon known for Bringing the Fun to the Run™, returns to the Hostess City for its ninth year. This charming destination city is not only known offering a beautiful flat and fast course, but also an ideal place to visit with its southern charm and amazing cooking. The weekend kicks off the running on Saturday, Nov. 2 with the marathon and half marathon both concluding in Forsyth Park where participants will be treated to the Strumbellas on the Rock ‘n’ Roll Concert Series stage. Rock ‘n’ Roll Savannah 1-mile and 5K presented by Brooks wraps up the weekend of running on Sunday, Nov. 3. Both races start in Daffin Park, one of the two largest recreational parks in the historic district, and finish inside historic Grayson Stadium. Runners who compete in any distance on both Saturday and Sunday can earn the Remix Challenge Medal.
