The Sun Conference announced it has awarded its Baseball Championship to Palm Beach County. Keiser University and the Palm Beach Sports Commission will host the 2018 and 2019 Sun Conference Baseball Championship at FITTEAM Ballpark of the Palm Beaches in May of 2018 and 2019. The six-team, double elimination tournament will take place on Friday, May 4th through Monday, May 7th. FITTEAM Ballpark of the Palm Beaches will feature (9) college baseball games over the first three days of the Sun Conference Baseball Championship, May 4th-6th.  The championship game will take place on the final day, Monday, May 7th.

The 2018 Sun Conference Baseball Championship will make history for The Palm Beaches.  FITTEAM Ballpark of the Palm Beaches will be home to its inaugural college baseball championship only 14 months after the facility opened.  As Florida’s newest, state-of-the art Major League Baseball Spring Training Complex, FITTEAM Ballpark of the Palm Beaches is home to the reigning World Series Champion, Houston Astros, and the National League East Division Champion, Washington Nationals.  The 7,700-capacity stadium features a fantastic wrap-around concourse, inviting sightlines and unique fan areas to enhance the championship baseball experience.

“FITTEAM Ballpark of the Palm Beaches is excited to welcome The Sun Conference Championship in conjunction with Keiser University and the Palm Beach County Sports Commission said Brady Ballard, FITTEAM Ballpark of the Palm Beaches General Manager.  We appreciate everyone’s collective efforts in bringing great collegiate baseball to the facility and further showcasing Palm Beach County as an elite destination.”

The Sun Conference is a 12-member intercollegiate athletic conference and is an affiliate of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA).  A total of six (6) of its member baseball programs will qualify for the Sun Conference Baseball Championship. The winner of this conference tournament will receive the league’s automatic bid to the NAIA Regional to compete for a National Championship.

Mark Pope, Sun Conference Commissioner stated “Our 12 Member Institutions are thrilled to bring our 2018 Baseball Championship to FITTEAM Ballpark of the Palm Beaches.  With a strong history of great teams, the Sun Conference promises a high quality of baseball: a level which we believe will measure up to this excellent facility.   We look forward to a long partnership with the Palm Beach County Sports Commission.”

Thousands of students, alumni, and baseball enthusiasts are expected to travel to The Palm Beaches to experience this championship tournament and one of the premier baseball venues in Florida.   Tickets packages will be available to the public in the coming days.
