Date: September 29, 2015 Thousands Will Run the MCM10K that Coincides with "The People's Marathon"

The MCM10K presented by Aetna is sold out of all entries for the  6.2 mile event that coincides with the 40th Marine Corps Marathon (MCM) on Sunday, Oct. 25. The MCM10K will include 10,000 registered participants from 48 states and 26 countries.

The MCM10K begins at 7:55 a.m. on the National Mall in Washington, DC with the new start located at 4th and Madison Drive, in front of the National Art Gallery. The MCM10K finishes alongside the 40th Marine Corps Marathon on the Marine Corps War Memorial in Rosslyn, VA.

This is the 10th year for the MCM10K which has grown in immense popularity since it began in 2006 and continues to sell out each year. The event includes runners ages 10 and above -- from the skilled competitor to the first time participant.

MCM10K participants will run the initial part of the course along the National Mall, then cross over the Potomac River (via the 14th Street Bridge), follow the MCM10K route into Crystal City and travel along the north side of the Pentagon. From there, they will complete the run across Route 110 in Arlington, making their way to the iconic finish on the Marine Corps War Memorial.

U.S. Marines will support MCM10K runners along each mile of the course and also present finisher medals with MarathonFoto capturing the celebrated images. MCM10K participants also will receive a variety of post-event nutritional items in hospitality before celebrating with family and friends in the MCM Finish Festival in Rosslyn, VA. The Finish Festival includes live entertainment, the MCM Finisher Store by Brooks, the Michelob Ultra Beer Garden, Arlington stage with live entertainment, numerous exhibitors and MCM sponsors.

All MCM10K participants can pick up their event-day packets during the two-day Health & Fitness Expo, which has this year moved to the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C. The Expo is free and open to the public from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Oct. 24 and 25. Each MCM10K participant will be asked to present their e-card and photo ID to receive their official bib with timing device, participant shirt, clear plastic bag with UPS baggage sticker and the official event program.

MCM10K runners are encouraged to take either the Archives/Navy Memorial/Penn Quarter or L'Enfant Plaza Metro to the MCM10K start. All participants will enter the screening point located at 7th and Madison Drive and then be directed to the MCM10K start.
