Delaware to Host First Leg of US Youth Soccer National Championship Series

DE Turf Sports Complex in Frederica, Delaware continues to host more than 300 players from over 25 teams across the state as they compete in the Delaware Youth Soccer Association (DYSA) State Cup, May 6-7 and May 13-14.

DE Turf Sports Complex is an 85-acre, state-of-the-art multi-purpose sports complex with 12 turf fields, on-site concessions and a championship field with permanent seating for 750. “We are the largest all-turf complex in the Mid-Atlantic,” says Chris Giacomucci, Executive Director of DE Turf Sports Complex. “We’re proud to be partnering with Delaware Youth Soccer Association to host this exciting event. We’re also looking forward to broadening youth soccer efforts, promoting sportsmanship, and bring together families and athletes in a positive and competitive environment.”

The Delaware State Cup winners and select runners-up will qualify to be among the hundreds of teams across the Region to compete in a number of age groups at the US Youth Soccer Region I Cup in Spotsylvania, Va.

“DYSA is proud to have the Delaware's newest and state of the art sports complex host our State Cup championships, which is the direct pathway for our players/teams to compete and showcase at a regional and national level,” explains Bill Rimmer, President of DYSA. “We certainly wish all of our clubs the best of luck and success.”

Admission to the event is free.

“This tournament will give us the opportunity to showcase our new venue to show that DE Turf is for everyone, every team, and every community,” adds Giacomucci. “We’re looking forward to developing a long and healthy partnership with Delaware Youth Soccer Association and others in the soccer, field hockey, and lacrosse sports.”

About the US Youth Soccer National Championship Series: The US Youth Soccer National Championship Series provides more than 10,000 teams from US Youth Soccer's 55 State Associations the opportunity to showcase their abilities against the best in the nation while emphasizing teamwork, discipline and fair play. The yearlong competition begins with over 185,000 players in the US Youth Soccer State Championships. These champions and selected wildcard teams, through US Youth Soccer Regional Leagues, advance to compete in one of four the US Youth Soccer Regional Championships. Champions (U-14 through U-19) from each regional event advance to the National Championships.
