DE TURF to Host the NCAA Men’s College Cup Showcase
24 Oct, 2017
DE Turf Sports Complex has been selected to host the 2017 NCAA Men’s College Cup Showcase December 8-10. This marks the third year that the NCAA will host a youth soccer tournament in conjunction with the Division I Men’s College Cup which will take place December 8-10 at Talen Energy Stadium in Philadelphia.
“We are thrilled to have been selected to host the NCAA Men’s College Cup Showcase”, said Chris Giacomucci, executive director at DE TURF. “Our facility met their needs with our synthetic turf fields and convenient location to Philadelphia. We’re very excited to host an event of this size and caliber, particularly in December where the economic benefits will be felt by our area hotels, restaurants and retailers.”
Elite Tournaments, a Maryland-based event management company, will once again serve as tournament organizers for this year’s showcase. Last year’s event in Houston hosted more than 130 boy’s premier and elite club teams (Under-15 through U-19) representing Mexico and 12 states (Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Kansas, Minnesota, Nebraska, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Texas, Virginia and Washington).
“Having hosted a successful event in Houston we are looking forward to another exciting tournament on the East Coast,” said Matt Libber, vice president of Elite Tournaments. “With the new location and a brand new state-of-the-art facility we expect to draw some of the best competition to this year’s showcase.”
The showcase will feature three games per team in front of more than 200 college coaches in attendance. As an added benefit, each team will be recognized on the field at Talen Energy Stadium during the College Cup and will receive tickets to both the semifinals and national championship game.
